Shipping Discounts
Offset Commerce provides a flexible set of tools to help you offer shipping discounts to your customers, automatically applied at checkout. Discounts can be applied globally for specific methods of your choosing, or more selectively to customers in specific groups or clubs. Additionally, you can configure some discounts directly within the rate tables per fulfillment method.
Below is an overview of the available options and where to manage each setting.
Global Free Shipping
These apply to all customers when their cart meets certain subtotal or quantity thresholds.
The Shipping Included section is in: Settings > Fulfillment Methods & Rates and supports:
Shipping Included on order subtotals at or above: Set a minimum dollar amount (e.g., $150).
Shipping Included on X bottles or more: Set a minimum number of bottles (e.g., 6).
NOTE: You must also set any Fulfillment Methods you'd like shipping included discounts to apply to in order for these settings to apply. Those toggles are in the fulfillment method page itself (see screenshot.)
Group Discounts
These allow you to target discounts to customers assigned to a specific group.
The Group Shipping section is at the bottom of the each Group details page.
Group Shipping
Enables free shipping for this group for any quantity of bottles
Toggle ON to apply
π‘ Reminder: Make sure the Fulfillment Method is also set to qualify for free shipping.
Club Member Discounts for Subsequent Non-Club Orders
When you are running a club batch, a common practice is to execute discounted shipping through the creation of a special fulfillment method. See this article for more detail on discounting shipping in the batch process.
When it comes to offering discount perks to club members BETWEEN club deliveries, you can offer free shipping, the same functionality that is available to offer at the Group level. Please note there is a Discount Rate setting here, but it is a product level discount and not a shipping discount.
To access the Subsequent Non-Club Order Discounts section, click on a club and then click the actions button and select "Edit Club Details."
Setting:
Shipping Included
Toggle ON to include shipping for non-club orders.
IMPORTANT: The Shipping Included setting Does not apply to club batch orders. All club batch shipping discounts and discounts on the products are handled within the club batch feature.
π‘ Reminder: Make sure the Fulfillment Method is also set to qualify for free shipping.
Shipping Included on specific Products
If you would like to offer free shipping on a specific product, you can set this on the product detail page. As with the other "shipping included" features at the Group and the Club level, this requires the fulfillment method itself to be eligible for free shipping.
The "Shipping Offer" field allows you to specify how many bottles of this product are required to be in the order in order to receive free shipping. Please note that this quantity is product-specific and will will not activate unless there are X bottles of this particular product in the customer's cart.
Global Flat Rate Shipping Discounts in Fulfillment Method Rate Tables
Offset provides a way to bake certain discounting into the rate table of a fulfillment method by setting a Maximum Charge past a quantity threshold, per zone. This is defined as a Flat Rate Shipping Charge and these discounts are available to anyone checking out, assuming the method is active.
To access the rate table, when viewing a fulfillment method click on the Actions button and select "edit rate table."
β
Settings:
A bottle quantity trigger per zone (e.g., 6 or 12 bottles)
A maximum charge amount (e.g., $30 or $0)
Once the quantity is met, the customer will not be charged more than the specified maximum charge, regardless of how many additional bottles they buy. This is in contrast to how our rates are calculated, where if someone purchases 13 bottles, the price of shipping would be the price of shipping 12 bottles + the price of shipping one bottle combined.
IMPORTANT: Flat Rate prices and quantities can only be configured for the 750mL rate table. However, the Maximum Charge setting carries over to all bottle formats.
