Offset's mobile iOS app allows for you to sell Gift Cards to customers on-site. This generates a Gift Card code that can be written on a physical card along with an amount and handed to the customer, or sent manually via email or through other means.
The POS app doesn't allow for the emailing of a digital Gift Card Code to third party recipients on behalf of the purchaser, although Offset offers an add-on page for your website which does support this. See here for more information.
Gift Card POS Setup
In order to be able to view the Gift Card product in your POS app, you'll need to first create a Gift Card product in Offset, if you haven't already. See the product setup steps in this article.
Once you have a Gift Card product properly created, select it in the dropdown in the POS Gift Card SKU field.
Settings > More > POS and admin
IMPORTANT: please message us if you would like to sell Gift Cards in the POS, as our team will need to make a quick update to your account settings.
Selling a Gift Card in the POS
After you've created your Gift Card product, and selected it in Offset's POS settings settings, and the Offset team has made a quick update on your behalf, you will see a Gift Card pinned to the top of your product list when building an order in the POS app.
Note: Gift Cards can only be purchased individually, and cannot be combined in a cart with other products.
The amount field will show that default product price, but can be edited to any amount your customer wishes.
After completing the purchase, click on "view order details" to view the unique Gift Card Code which you can then write down or otherwise share with the purchaser, along with the amount.
