Within a product details page, there are some key settings that will determine how your products will display for customers on your online shop or in an allocation. You can adjust the settings for Product Visibility and Website Visibility to address different scenarios for selling your products.

Product Visibility

  • This is also referred to as the product status on occasion

  • If set to Visible (also known as Active), the product will be available on your open cart shop (this does not affect allocations)

  • If set to Hidden (also known as Inactive), the product will not be visible on your shop page. Instead, it can only be accessed via a direct/hidden link to the product (this does not affect allocations)

    • NOTE: Hidden products are available for admin orders

  • If set to Archived, the product will not be navigable on your open cart or when placing admin orders

    • This is often used when a product is no longer being sold at all or is out of stock for the forseeable future

    • NOTE: Archived products can be accessed via direct links if the Website Visibility toggle is turned on

Website Visibility

  • When toggled on, customers can view the product detail page on your website by following a link to the product

  • When toggled off, the product will be completely removed from the website, including via any direct or hidden links

    • When off, the below message will display when customers access an old link to the product page

Scenerios

Below are a few different use cases to help determine the best option for your scenario. If you are unsure how you should set up a product, please send a message to [email protected].

Scenario #1: You want to sell this product on your website and will be sending out emails promoting the product with links that direct customers to the product page for purchase. The product should be set to 'Visible', with the 'For Sale' and 'Website' toggles turned on.

Scenario #2: You want to sell this product, but you don’t want it to appear on your Shop page. Perhaps this is a promotion for a special product that you only want to offer to a certain segment of customers. You will instead be sending out emails with a URL link to the product so when the customers click the link they will be redirected to the product page where they can purchase the product. The product should be set to 'Hidden', with the 'For Sale' and 'Website' toggles turned on.

Scenario #3: You want to sell this product, but you do not want it to appear on your Shop page, you won’t be sending out any emails to promote the product and you don’t want customers to purchase the product if they search for it on the web. You will shut this product off for the public, but still want to access the product when placing an Admin order in Offset. The product should be set to 'Hidden', with the 'For Sale' and 'Website' toggles turned off.
