Purpose
This feature lets you capture how customers respond to a question—like “Do you want to stay on the mailing list?”— via email links. It records their choice as part of the customer profile in Offset Commerce.
Where to Set the Transition Preference Link
Navigate to your marketing link settings:
[YOUR BRAND].offsetcommerce.com/settings/email-marketing/
Use these links in your campaigns as buttons after a simple question, such as:
Do you want to stay on the mailing list?Yes No Maybe
Each button corresponds to one of the possible responses and includes the transition preference in the URL.
What Happens When a Customer Clicks
transition_preference: The value (Yes, No, or Maybe) appears as a field in their Offset Commerce customer profile.
transition_preference_update: Automatically records the date and time when the choice was made.
These values remain attached to the customer’s profile. They can be cleared via import (see below).
Clearing Transition Preferences
To remove existing preferences:
Export your customer data template, or refer to your current CSV.
Add two column headers exactly as follows:
transition_preference
transition_preference_update
Leave those column values blank for any customers whose preferences you want to clear.
Import the updated CSV. The blank values overwrite and clear prior preferences.
