The Bulk Shipping Method Update CSV, found on the Clubs > Actions dropdown, is used to attach an import spreadsheet to update the saved shipping method for several customers in one action. There are many uses for this bulk action, including a change in carriers, mass changing customers to a discounted version of their shipping preference, or even removing the customer preference altogether. Maybe you no longer offer pickup, and you want to remove this option from their stored preferences. This article explores the process and usage of the Bulk Shipping Method Update.

Format Your Spreadsheet

To get started, go to the Clubs page, select the Actions dropdown, and choose Export All Members to download a CSV. Use the Export All Members CSV file as a worksheet for your import spreadsheet. You can use the info on your sheet to sort and filter your results, and take the data from the club_member_id column to create your import sheet. Use the shipping_method to see the member's current default method to decide if it needs to be updated.

IMPORTANT: Before you make changes, save a backup of the original export so you can refer to their original choice if needed. Once you update the methods, there is NO undo.

Next, create a new two-column spreadsheet or modify the Export All Members CSV.

Column header A = id

id is the club member ID, which you can view in the Export All Members file and viewing the "club_member_id" column.

IMPORTANT: The club_member_id is the unique ID assigned to a member when they join a club. This is the information you want to use when making bulk updates. This is NOT the same as a customer_id, which is the unique ID assigned to a customer contact and does NOT work for club updates.

Column header B = method_id

method_id is the number to the left of the shipping method on the SETTINGS > Fulfillment Methods & Rates page.

Copy down the method IDs to bulk change members to the new method and save your spreadsheet for import.

If you want to delete the saved preference altogether, you can leave the data in the method_id column blank, and remove the preference from the customer's account upon import. If the shipping preference is blank in the member's account, the orders will ship using the default method you select when creating the club batch.

Import Your Bulk Shipping Method Update Spreadsheet

When you are ready to import your updates:

  1. Go to the Clubs page

  2. Select the Actions dropdown

  3. Choose Bulk Shipping Method Update

  4. Select Choose File

  5. Attach your file

  6. Select the Upload button

NOTE: Try importing one or two updates before doing a mass update to all your member preferences.
