Whether you are offering a curated 3-pack, a holiday gift box, or a mixed 6-pack, you can sell multi-bottle products in Offset Commerce by creating a standalone pack SKU. This article walks you through the full setup process, including product creation, shipping configuration, and inventory management.
IMPORTANT: Offset Commerce does not support bundled or "kit" products that pull inventory from multiple existing SKUs. A pack product is its own standalone item with a unique SKU and its own inventory count. This means the pack SKU will appear as a standalone item across the platform, including in orders, reports, and order confirmation emails.
Enable the Pack Bottle Size
Before creating your pack product, you will need to first enable the bottle size.
Go to Settings > Fulfillment Methods & Rates
Scroll down to Bottle Sizes, Cubing, & California Redemption Value (CRV)
Enable the appropriate pack bottle size for your product. Options include sizes such as 750mL-3-Bottle-Giftbox, 750mL-6-Bottle-Giftbox, 750mL-3-Bottle-Woodbox, and others depending on your packaging format
NOTE: After enabling a new bottle size, a new rate table will be added to every shipping method you have created. You will need to populate that rate table with your shipping costs before using this bottle size for shipping. Refer to Set Up Your Fulfillment Methods & Shipping Rates for instructions on configuring rate tables.
Creating the Pack Product
Enter your Product Title using a name that clearly identifies the contents (e.g., "2024 Estate Cabernet 3-Pack" or "Holiday Gift Box - 6 Bottles")
Enter a unique SKU for the pack product.
Enter your Price for the pack
This is the price for the pack as a unit, not for the SKUs individually
Enter the amount of Inventory you want to sell.
This number should represent the number of packs available, not the total number of individual bottles
Scroll down to Product Details
Set the Bottle Size (Display Only) dropdown. You can either set this to the pack size (e.g., 750mL-3-Bottle-Giftbox) to show the pack format, or set it to 750mL and describe the pack format in your product image, label, or description instead
Configure Shipping Settings
The shipping section is the most critical part of setting up a pack SKU. There are two approaches depending on how your shipping rates are structured.
β
Approach A: Using a Dedicated Pack Bottle Size (Recommended)
Use this approach when you want your pack to charge shipping based on a dedicated pack rate table. This is the recommended setup for most pack products.
Scroll down and select Shipping
Set the Bottle Size (Shipping) to the pack bottle size you enabled earlier (e.g., 750mL-3-Bottle-Giftbox)
Set the Shipping Grid Bottle Count to 1
NOTE: Because the pack is treated as a single unit on its own rate table, setting the Grid Bottle Count to 1 means one pack will look at row 1 of the pack rate table. If a customer orders 2 packs, it will look at row 2, and so on.
Approach B: Using the Standard 750mL Rate Table
Use this approach if you do not need a separate rate table for your packs and want the system to calculate shipping as if the customer purchased the equivalent number of individual bottles.
Scroll down and select Shipping
Set the Bottle Size (Shipping) to 750mL
Set the Shipping Grid Bottle Count to the number of bottles in your pack (e.g., 3 for a 3-pack or 6 for a 6-pack)
NOTE: This tells the system that the pack is equivalent to 3 (or 6) individual 750mL bottles and it will charge shipping based on that row of the standard 750mL rate table. If a customer orders one 3-pack and the Grid Bottle Count is set to 3, shipping will be based on the 3-bottle row of the 750mL rate grid.
